New improved Oculus Rift dev-kit in the making


Oculus is working on a second version of the development kit for the VR headset, Oculus Rift. The new version is better able to follow the player’s head movements, the quality of the image in the glasses is the main problem to be resolved, the team told Endgadget in a recent interview.

To keep progress with development and solutions, a new version of the development-kit for the glasses had to be made available to developers. Another build should be available before the consumer version of the headset hits the market. The new dev kit would contain a higher resolution screen and also the head position of the player would be improved.

The way I believe it’s going to play out is you will eventually have a head-mounted display that probably runs Android, as a standalone system, that has a system-on-a-chip that’s basically like what you have in mobile phones,
