Real world astronauts, writers, artists, designers and architects have all come together to create a video game called Space Pioneer. The game is best described as a space sim, with real time strategy and city building mechanics.
We think that Linux is a very important platform that has an incredibly active and passionate community.
Space Pioneer will include single player and multiplayer. Single player will allow you to coordinate small/focused excursions into rival territories, whilst also giving you the option to conduct massive interplanetary battles with rival civilizations and includes an extensive amount of lore as well as a lengthy campaign.
While multiplayer adds other players to the fold that will compete against you to assert humanity’s dominance in our universe. In free roam mode; whenever you log into multiplayer, there will be 128 other players in your game – if you get destroyed, then you start out on a different server with similar leveled people.
Space Pioneer is set to release on both Linux and Windows, but first there is a kickstarter campaign to be won:
