Awesomenauts: Starstorm Passes Stretch goal

Hey guys it is Ultimoore again, I wanted to talk about Awesomenauts: Starstorm Kickstarter because I love Awesomenauts and thought showing off what Ronimo Games have planed to this future DLC for the amazing game known only as, THE AWESOMENAUTS!!

For those who don’t know:

Awesomenauts is a MOBA and an accessible 3-on-3 action plat-former. Head out to the online battlefields together with your friends as an online party or in local split-screen, and never worry about having to wait for an online match because of drop-in matchmaking!

Play as several Awesomenauts as you storm the online battlegrounds and unlock loads of new abilities and characters for your arsenal.

Devise strategies as you upgrade and customize each character’s skills to suit your playing style.

They have a Kickstarter?

Yes they did, The Awesomenauts: Starstorm project went live on August 19th, 2013 and it is to bring a new expansion to the game.

The universe is in turmoil as the ever-enduring stalemate between the droid armies of the Ones and Zeros reaches a fever-pitch! Millions of battles have been fought across the scorched wastelands of Sorona, the dense jungle reservation of Ribbit IV, on AI Station 404’s installations and in the recently discovered mystical temple of Aiguillon.

Meanwhile, in the Raki star system, a gigantic remnant of the first AI war drifts near the burning star. This massive unfinished battle station, an abandoned relic of the first generation of robots, is called The Starstorm.

Construction on the station was halted after the defeat of the robots. It was considered to be their ultimate weapon, holding the power to transform the energy from stars into a whirling mass of destruction. Its hull bears thousands of robot ground troops slumbering in their rusty sleep.

The space platform and its robotic legion were thought to be permanently powered down after the first AI war and the station has been idly floating around in space ever since. The Starstorm was never fully operational, until recently…

Emergency reports of the sun imploding into a giant burning space storm have indicated that the Starstorm has somehow been activated. The news of the clearly battle-ready station has drawn the attention of the Ones and Zeros. Both factions have sent their best teams to investigate and secure the station and gain control of the Starstorm’s destructive power!

The pieces are set, the eve of battle approaches once more! Awesomenauts assemble!

That sounds great to me. Already Ronimo Games has already reached their goal, But with so many features they want to add how could you not want to get in on this.

What about Linux?

Linux was and still is supported from the project going live. Very much like the main game Awesomenauts it will support Linux

What main features will be in this Awesomenauts: Starstorm?

Well I’m so glad you didn’t ask that question. For anyone who likes to play competitively on Awesomenauts the features for Starstorm are well needed for the game. The key feature they added that is a BIG one for me is, Spectator Mode! Yes you can finally watch your friend get his butt handed to him by yours truely (I’m talking about me.) Here is the description from the kickstarter page.

Spectator Mode allows your friends to watch your matches! They can freely move the camera, switch which character to follow, and investigate what all the players have bought. Spectators will view the match with a thirty second delay to avoid foul play. This makes Spectator Mode perfect for streaming tournament matches.

Players will only be able to spectate a match after receiving an invitation from one of the active players, and the number of spectators that can view a game simultaneously is limited. If the “Replays” stretch goal below is made, we will also extend the Spectator Mode so that public matches can be viewed by an unlimited number of people.

Other “Awesomenaut” features (I see what you did there.) include for now:

Global Chat

We will add global chat in the main menu. Discuss the latest tactics, find people to play Private Matches with, and talk about that sick Froggy G & Derpl combo you saw in that match you just spectated.

Twin Stick Controller Support

For ultimate precision with controllers, we will add an optional second control scheme: twin stick! One stick to walk, the other stick to aim. With this, those who prefer a controller over a mouse can get the same killer aim as mouse players. The old control scheme will of course also still be available to play with.

New Music

Along with the 3 new theme songs and killing spree songs of the new characters, there will also be 2 new songs added to the regular soundtrack. More variation, more beats, more awesomeness!

Characters, I want more!

Yes 3 more character are being added to the roster on release.

This guy looks exactly like a Predator from that movie you know with that alien….the name escapes me.

An assassin robot that should never get confused with a telephone booth or a and umbrella.

Ted McPain:

Best known for his work in the AI wars but was better remembered by the kiddies for such video games as; Ted McPain I through XVII, Ted McPain: Zombie Blast, Ted McPain vs. Evil Ted McPain and Ted McPain Unicorn Dance Karting. -kickstarter description.

Final Thoughts

As of now (Aug, 26, 2013) they have passed have passed the 125,000$ stretch goal. Check out the Awesomenauts: Starstorm Kickstarter page check out the pitch video its pretty funny. I personally cannot wait for new Awesomenauts: Starstorm to arrive on Steam. I am excited about all the features that will add to the competitive game play The game already runs great with my Logitech F710 and in Big Picture Mode on Steam. Also If you play Awesomenauts add me on Steam and well play a few rounds sometime.

Game on my friends.
