Dying Light and Hellraid still have a chance.

Always the optimist

Well Techland sent out the emails in regards to Dying Light and Hellraid on the subject of if there are plans to bring the two Chrome Engine 6 games to SteamOS / Linux. Well I got my response back as did all of you who posted on both games “Linux support threads” on Steam. Krzysztof Janicki was nice enough to send back a quick reply on the subject.

Hello Sandy,

Thank your for your message and interest in our games.
To answer your questions, currently we have no plans to bring Dying Light or Hellraid to SteamOS and Linux. It might always change in the future, but right now the team is focusing to delivering the games to the already announced platforms.

Kind regards,
Krzysztof Janicki

Now I know your think hey this news sucks, But think about it the game are coming close to release on multiple platforms. There is no reason for Techland to write a cheque they can’t cash, right? I would rather them now know that there is a market on Linux for those two games and have them port the game properly and surprise us, rather than promise support and never port it over. We know that feeling all too well. It shows the team at Techland have focuse and purpose towards the games and making sure they run properly and smoothly. Plus with the engine having Linux support who is to say a 3rd party won’t pick up the engine and make a game. So the way I see it, this is still good news. Game on, Linux gamers.
