GOG takes it up with Steam and Desura

Online distribution platform GOG has announced its Galaxy service. The company wants to compete against established names such as Steam and Desura. Unlike Steam service with Galaxy ,games can be played offline.

GOG said in a press conference that users who bought games with GOG, should be able to play together with the online Galaxy Client . It is not necessary to use the client to play games currently purchased. However, the program ensures games to be updated and a communication platform to connect with your friends.

GOG is known for support multiple platforms and DRM distributions. In March, the company announced it has been working on Linux support for some time now. GOG says at least Ubuntu and Mint going support this autumn.
