The Swiss researcher Vincent Etter claims to predict the success of projects on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter with a certainty of 76 percent.

Etter and his team of researchers argue that they are better at making the prediction than another group of researchers , who did with an accuracy of 68 percent predictions. The prediction can be made just hours after the project started, the researchers said in their paper(pdf ) , which was presented last week.

To future crowdfunders Etter has some advice based on his research.

It is important that you pay close attention to the campaign . The description, a video , rewards , etc. But when the campaign has already begun , it is wise to stay on the social networks still active

Furthermore, the research shows that projects often fail who ask more money for a longer period. Generally 44 percent of Kickstarter projects are successful.
