Montague’s Mount Released on Steam

Montague’s Mount has just been released on Steam. It is a cross platform (Linux,Mac,Win) psychological thriller set on a lonely deserted Island in Ireland, and is apparently based on a true story.

We didn’t reach our target which is a shame, but I would like to thank everyone who supported and backed us!

Despite having suffered a failed Indigogo campaign, the developers of Montague’s Mount pushed ahead and succeeded in releasing a very intriguing game; one that will keep us all occupied for hours of fun…nail biting fun, but fun all the same.

The mixture of cold Atlantic water and coarse sand in your mouth brings you back from unconsciousness. Surrounded by the wreckage of a boat’s hull, you can only draw one conclusion: your vessel has been torn apart by the submerged rocks. The secrets of the island must be uncovered if you are ever going to find a way to escape. Where is everyone; is the island really uninhabited; and what is lurking within the isolated caves?

The first thing that struck me about Montague’s Mount were the visuals. The graphics and atmosphere in this game are amazing and have to be experienced to be believed. It has a very dark Gothic, old world feel to it that creates the perfect ambiance for the story line. The movement in Montague’s Mount accompanied by the great visuals, sound and music really makes you feel like you’re in the game, I can see how it would be perfectly suited to the Oculus Rift VR Headset.

The Oculus Rift VR Headset is the cutting edge of virtual reality for video games. Montague’s Mount and the Oculus Rift will be the perfect partnership and add an additional layer of immersion. It is our intention to support the Oculus Rift as an input device.

And even though this is not technically a full game review, I really felt I had to mention just how good this game looks. It is really fantastic that after all the years of waiting, we are now seeing top class games being brought to Linux and that Linux is now being seen as a viable gaming platform by game developers.

Montague’s Mount’s story is set against the desolate and rugged scenery of Ireland. With this we are embracing ‘all things’ Irish. The Irish language (Gaeilge) is used extensively throughout Montague’s Mount and we believe it is the first mainstream game to promote the irish language.

Linux advocate, born in Liverpool, grew up in Cork City Ireland and currently living in Corvallis, Oregon. I love all things Linux, my favorite distro being Ubuntu followed closely by Kubuntu and Linux Mint (Cinnamon and KDE). As far as I'm concerned Linux is the future of gaming. Lets make the world as open and transparent as we can!
