Valve have also just announced on the Steam Universe, Steam group that the three hundred prototype Steam Machines have been shipped to those lucky few who were chosen as beta testers.

The prototype Steam Machines and Steam Controllers have officially left the factory and are on their way to beta testers.

Also, SteamOS is available for intrepid Linux hackers to try out. At this point the OS itself is not yet a finished product for a non-technical user, but if you’re interested you can read more about it atsteampowered.com/steamos.

Thanks in advance to the three hundred Steam users who are going to spend their time helping us shape the future of Steam in the living room. We will be posting updates here about the experiences that users are having once the Steam hardware devices arrive at homes. Here we go!

I want Half-Life 3 and I will buy 10 steamboxes when that game is gonna be released.

And I kind of was hoping that the desktop would be KDE instead of gnome 😉

You can work around the UEFI stuff. I am posting from SteamOS and my motherboard is BIOS.

Also, I only have 3GB of RAM and am using a 120GB spare HDD I had kicking around.

Some AMD guys have it up too.

Great work Adolson. I’m very interested about AMD with IBuyPowers rig. Maybe they will do a massive Catalyst update.
