CES; 12 Valve partners show SteamMachine

According Endgadget several companies, including Alienware and Gigabyte, will announce a Steam Machine at the CES . They will additionally show their Steam Machines prototypes , according to Endgadget. Digital Storm and iBuyPower announced their Steam Machine last year.


Based on the article; Alienware, Falcon Northwest, CyberpowerPC, Origin PC, Gigabyte, Materiel.net, Webhallen, Next, Scan Computers and Zotac unveil their version of the Steam Machine during CES, which takes place in Las Vegas this week. Also the Dutch webstore Alternate displays a custom Steam Machine at the fair. Alternate was not available for comment. What the specifications and prices of the new Steam Machines are is unknown

Shown at CES, the machine of iBuyPower costs $500 and is made up of AMD hardware. Digital Storm opt for a water-cooled system around a GeForce GTX Titan with a impressive price-tag of $1470!


Valve distributed in December 300 self -produced Steam Machines under beta testers . Which are built around Nvidia cards and Intel processors. However, the company also wants to bring Steam machines build with AMD hardware.

Valve’s Steam is Linux-based OS Steam, although Digital Storm already announced that the next Windows OS will install Steam. Valve designed a proprietary controller control to operate. Steam Machines attempts to replace traditional gamepads with innovative Steam Controller incl. clickable touchpads.

    “although Digital Storm already announced that the next Windows OS will install Steam.” Huh? That doesn’t really make sense, do you mean to say they will run Windows with Steam on their machine?

    This is still will be very interesting for many different areas. I for one am excited at being able to show coworkers and friends the easy options for PC gaming in general.
